Liberal Democrat campaigners call for the abolition of the council tax

The recent announcement cancelling council tax revaluation shows that Labour don't care about fairness and justice says local Lib Dem finance spokesperson Cllr Mark Pattenden (Eltham South).

"Delaying council tax revaluation gets the government out of its current difficulty, but it does nothing to help local pensioners and low-income families who struggle week after week to pay their council tax bills," said Cllr Pattenden.

"The council tax remains Britain's most unfair tax. The Liberal Democrats want to abolish it and replace it with a local income tax based on the ability to pay."
