The u-turn on tuition fees announced by David Cameron's Tories this week shows that students cannot trust them to keep their word says Cllr Mark Pattenden (Eltham South).

"Labour promised not to introduce fees when they were in opposition, but as soon as they were elected they introduced them. The Tories said that they would get rid of them, but now they have changed their policy too" said Cllr Pattenden.

"The Tories want to extend selection in schools and now propose to keep university tuition fees. They are more concerned about the prospects of a select few at the expense of everyone else."
