Dunfermline by-election success is good news for Greenwich Lib Dems

Liberal Democrats in Greenwich borough have offered their congratulations to Willie Rennie, the newly elected MP for Dunfermline and West Fife.

Cllr Mark Pattenden (Eltham South) said "This is a fantastic result for the Liberal Democrats."

There was a 16.2% swing to the Liberal Democrats from Labour. Together with the decline in the Tory vote a similar performance in Greenwich borough would mean Lib Dem MPs elected in Eltham and in Greenwich & Woolwich.

"David Cameron's Conservatives must be very disappointed with this result. It is clear that when it comes to choosing the real opposition to Labour, people are choosing the Liberal Democrats," added Cllr Pattenden.
