Brian Robson has been selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Greenwich & Lewisham

Liberal Democrat members across Greenwich and Lewisham boroughs recently elected Lee Green councillor Brian Robson to be the party's candidate for the Greater London Assembly elections in May 2008.

Brian is a former national chair of Lib Dem Youth & Students. He won his Lewisham Council seat from Labour in 2006 and is looking forward to taking on Labour's sitting GLA member Len Duvall at the next election.

After his selection as Lib Dem candidate, Brian said "I believe the GLA has a key role to play in improving quality of life in Greenwich and Lewisham, particularly in the key areas of transport, housing and community safety. I will be campaigning hard on these issues between now and the election in May.

"I live and work locally, as well as being a local councillor, so I'm absolutely committed to our area. I think our boroughs need a strong, independent voice on the London Assembly, who can stand up to the London Mayor and get the best for our area."
