Local Liberal Democrats are fighting plans to close another five post offices across the Borough.

After thousands of post office closures during recent years, Gordon Brown's Labour Government - backed by local MPs Nick Raynsford, Clive Efford and John Austin - now say that another 2,500 are to be axed - 169 of those are in London - 20% of all post offices.

Greenwich & Lewisham Lib Dem GLA candidate Cllr Brian Robson said, "Post Offices provide a vital community service. These closures will hit local people, especially older residents, very hard indeed. Only the Liberal Democrats have a plan to save our local post offices and to open new post offices when needed."

The Post Offices under threat in Greenwich are:

  • 263 Eltham High Street

  • 119 Plumstead Common Road

  • 11 Blackheath Hill

  • 8 Woolwich Road

  • 43 Bostall Hill
