Lib Dems welcome Olympic consultation on Greenwich Park12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Sun 29th Jun 2008 Greenwich Liberal Democrats have welcomed the recent announcement from Locog, the London organising committee for the 2012 Olympic Games, that there will be further community consultation on the planned use of Greenwich Park for the equestrian events. "Many people have been concerned at the lack of information from Locog," said Cllr Brian Woodcraft, leader of the Lib Dem group on Greenwich Council. "Rumours have gone unanswered, which has meant growing opposition to the plans. "I am pleased to see that Locog are now promising to involve local groups like the Friends of Greenwich Park in drawing up their plans for the Games. "Whatever plans are drawn up must involve protecting the Park and preserving its historic importance. We will review the plans carefully when they come before the Council's planning committee to ensure just that."
